Prof. Ahmed El-Sabbagh, President of the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST), participated in the 25th Annual General Conference of the Arab Administrative Development Organization (ARADO) – League of Arab States, held in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour of the Sultanate of Oman in Salalah from 11 to 13 August 2026. The conference, entitled “Government Readiness for a Sustainable Future,” brings together a distinguished group of officials, experts, and specialists from across the Arab region.

During the conference, Prof. El-Sabbagh delivered a lecture entitled “The Role of Universities in Sustainable Development and Government Readiness: The Egypt-Japan University as a Model – From Institutional Governance to the Role of Arab Universities in Achieving Sustainability.” He highlighted the role of universities in supporting development plans, building capacities, and strengthening institutional readiness to meet future challenges and requirements.

The E-JUST President presented the university’s experience as a model based on institutional governance and the utilization of Japanese expertise, while linking education, scientific research, and innovation to the needs of society and industry. He emphasized that the role of modern universities extends beyond providing education to include generating knowledge, developing human capital, supporting innovation, and contributing solutions to development challenges.

Prof. El-Sabbagh also stressed the importance of strengthening partnerships among universities, governments, and industry to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and enhance the ability of institutions and communities to keep pace with rapid transformations and prepare for future demands.

On the sidelines of the conference, H.E. Dr. Mahad bin Said bin Ali Ba’owain, Minister of Labour of the Sultanate of Oman, honored Prof. Ahmed El-Sabbagh, President of E-JUST, in recognition of his participation in the conference.

The three-day conference addresses a number of key themes related to governments’ readiness for the future, including future government leadership, digital transformation and artificial intelligence, governance, sustainability, human capital development, and risk management.

The participation of the E-JUST President reflects the university’s commitment to strengthening its presence in Arab and international forums, exchanging knowledge and experience in education, scientific research, innovation, and sustainable development, and advancing the role of universities in preparing qualified professionals capable of meeting the requirements of the future
