Under the auspices of Professor. Amr Adly, E-JUST President, and the supervision of Prof. Sameh Nada, Dean of School of Energy, Built Environment, and Chemical Engineering (EBCE), launched the competition titled "towards sustainable future" for the Fifth year aiming at enhancing innovation at EBCE Undergraduate and M.Sc. students in the field of sustainability through research article to save the Environment and the natural resources.
The competition comes within the framework of cooperation between the Egypt - Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) and Birla Carbon Egypt Company. It depends on the participating students presenting their graduation or research projects that are related to the field of sustainability, and which are evaluated by a committee that includes professors from E-JUST, Alexandria University, and Pharos University. The evaluation criteria include the following elements:
Environmental impacts and ecosystems - Impact on society - Possibility of implementing the project - Project economics.
11 Undergraduate and postgraduate students from Energy Resources Engineering department, Environmental Engineering, and Chemical and Petrochemical Engineering Department participated in the competition presenting 6 research articles covering the sustainable development issues.
Prizes are offered by Birla Carbon Company as follows:
The First Prize: 17000 LE.
The Second Prize: 12000 LE.
The Third Prize: 7000 LE.
The final ceremony was held on 8-12-2025 at E-JUST Library theater with the presence of Prof. Ahmed Elsabbagh- Vice president for Education and Academic Affairs, where the candidates presented their research articles and received the prizes provided by Birla Carbon Egypt as follows:
The first prize: Eng. Destiny Oside shared with Mr. Mohamed Sobhy, Mr. Mahmoud Koraiem, and Mr. Mohamed Wessam.
The second prize: Eng. Mohamed Ehab Elkassas shared with Eng. Mohamed Hassan Abbas.
The third prize: Eng. Yomna Ali Fahmy.
The School of Energy, Built Environment, and Chemical Engineering (EBCE) always strives to provide applied topics to its students that seek to achieve the sustainable development goals and Egypt vision 2030.
