Prof. Amr Adly, President of the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST), announced that the university has achieved a new academic milestone by entering the QS World University Rankings 2027 for the first time, one of the world’s most prominent university rankings.
E-JUST was ranked in the 801–850 band globally, placing fourth in Egypt, jointly with Alexandria University, and 11th in Africa.
Prof. Amr Adly affirmed that this achievement reflects E-JUST’s growing academic and research standing. He noted that the university ranked first among all Egyptian and African universities in the Citations per Faculty indicator, one of the key measures used internationally to assess the quality, influence, and impact of universities’ scientific and research output.
He explained that E-JUST’s first appearance in this global ranking came after fulfilling the eligibility requirements for participation, including graduating the required minimum number of undergraduate cohorts. The university began admitting undergraduate students in 2017, which enabled it over the past two years to meet the necessary criteria for inclusion in the ranking.
“We are proud of this achievement, which is the result of years of hard work, investment in scientific research, and commitment to academic excellence. It also confirms the success of the Egyptian-Japanese partnership model in building an educational and research institution capable of competing globally,” said Prof. Amr Adly.
He added that this success was made possible through the strong support of the university’s Board of Trustees, the close cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the outstanding efforts of E-JUST’s Egyptian faculty members, who are among the nation’s leading scholars, and the valuable contributions of Japanese research partners. He also highlighted the vital role played by young researchers and the university’s administrative staff.
Prof. Adly further emphasized that E-JUST will continue strengthening its international standing by supporting scientific research and innovation, and by developing its academic programs in line with the highest global standards. These efforts aim to prepare highly qualified graduates capable of competing internationally and contributing effectively to the achievement of sustainable development goals.
