Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ph.D. AHMED ELSABBAGH

Professor of Materials Engineering, a distinguished scholar and academic administrator with over three decades of excellence spanning materials engineering research, higher education development, and international collaboration. Currently serving as Vice President of Education and Academic Affairs at Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology, he brings a unique blend of technical expertise, strategic vision, and cross-cultural leadership in different levels of Egypt's higher education landscape.

His academic journey encompasses prestigious appointments at Ain Shams University, Clausthal University of Technology, and Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology. With more than 20 projects in Germany and Egypt, 70 peer-reviewed publications, three books, and 30 invited presentations at international conferences, his research has made significant contributions to metal and polymer matrix composites, advanced fluid flow modeling, functional polymers, and prosthetic limb manufacturing. This work has been conducted through a robust international network spanning Germany, Italy, China, Korea, and Egypt.

His scholarly impact has earned him a place on Stanford's list of top 2% scientists worldwide for four consecutive years (2021, 2022, 2023, and 2025), alongside prestigious recognitions including the World TVET Prize 2024 in Tianjin, ICNF Prize in Portugal (2015), and Egypt's State Prize for Innovation (2010).

Since 2016, he has served on executive committees of Egypt's Supreme Council of Universities, shaping the future of Egyptian higher education. His expertise has been instrumental in establishing new non-profit universities, developing engineering curricula at the sector level, and creating state-of-the-art laboratories through international partnerships. His decade-long exposure to European academic environments, combined with management of over 15 EU and German-funded joint projects, has positioned him as a bridge between Egyptian academia and global innovation ecosystems.

From 2023-2024, he served as Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Technical and Technological Education, and currently directs the Unit of Projects Development at the Ministry of Higher Education. His administrative acumen was further demonstrated as Vice Dean at Ain Shams University's Faculty of Engineering, overseeing Community Service and Environmental Affairs (2021-2023) and Education and Student Affairs (2023-2025).
