The Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) hosted the Energy Kickoff Workshop under the Japan-Africa STI Network towards Internationalization. The workshop, held under the theme “Standalone Green Hybrid Charging Station for Electric and Hydrogen Vehicles in African Countries,” brought together key academic figures and researchers from E-JUST, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), and Stellenbosch University, alongside representatives from Japanese universities and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Prof. Amr Adly, President of E-JUST, welcomed the guests and expressed his appreciation for this strategic initiative. He emphasized the importance of international collaboration in supporting Africa’s socio-economic development and achieving sustainability goals through innovative energy solutions. The session also featured opening remarks by Mr. Ebisawa, Chief Representative of JICA Egypt Office, who praised the initiative and reaffirmed JICA’s commitment to fostering scientific cooperation between Japan and African nations through networks like this. Prof. Sameh Nada, Vice President of Education and Academic Affairs at E-JUST and Principal Investigator of the energy research project, served as the workshop facilitator. Prof. Shuji Hashimoto, First Vice President for International and regional Affairs, addressed the attendees and highlighted the role of academic cooperation in tackling global and regional energy challenges. The workshop is being delivered by experts from the three lead universities, with presentations and technical discussions facilitated by representatives from E-JUST, Stellenbosch University, and JKUAT. The sessions aim to refine the joint research proposal, outline a comprehensive implementation plan, and explore long-term collaboration beyond the current scope. This workshop highlights E-JUST’s regional leadership in sustainable energy research and its commitment to driving innovation through international academic partnerships.
