E-JUST Inaugurates New Student Housing Complex at the Western Campus in Borg El Arab

Lieutenant General Ahmed Khaled Hassan, Governor of Alexandria; Prof. Hany Helal, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST); Ms. Imoto, Vice President of JICA and Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees; H.E. Fumio Iwai, Ambassador of Japan to Egypt; Prof. Amr Adly, E-JUST President; Prof. Ahmed El-Gohary, Founding and Former President of E-JUST; and Mr. Shin Yu Ibisawa, Chief Representative of JICA Cairo Office, along with several members of the Board of Trustees, jointly inaugurated the new student housing complex at the university’s west campus in Borg El Arab. The inauguration was also attended by notable figures including Prof. Ahmed Abdullah Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina; Prof. Mostafa Refaat, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Universities; Prof. Shoji Hashimoto, Vice President for International Affairs; Prof. Sameh Nada, Vice President for Education and Academic Affairs; Prof. Toshio Fukuda, Vice President for Research; deans of faculties, and other public figures. In his remarks, Governor Ahmed Khaled emphasized that E-JUST represents one of Egypt’s most significant educational achievements in recent years, reflecting the state’s continuous support and the strategic direction set by the political leadership to improve education quality and align its outputs with global standards. He noted that large-scale educational projects such as this play a vital role in developing human capital and preparing young professionals to meet the challenges of the future. By offering a modern learning environment and globally relevant academic content, E-JUST contributes significantly to Egypt’s vision of building a knowledge-based and innovation-driven society. Prof. Hany Helal affirmed that the inauguration of the new student housing complex is part of the university’s strategic plan to expand its residential capacity and offer a distinguished living environment for students. This initiative supports Egypt’s broader goals of enhancing student well-being and improving the quality of university life. He added that this urban expansion reflects the Board of Trustees’ vision to ensure comfort and stability for non-resident students while delivering integrated educational and residential services aligned with E-JUST’s standing and reputation. Prof. Amr Adly, President of E-JUST, stated that the newly inaugurated complex accommodates more than 1,119 students. It has been designed to foster an environment that encourages creativity and academic excellence, in line with the university’s mission to prepare highly qualified graduates capable of leading development in Egypt and beyond. He explained that the housing complex spans an area of approximately 51,744 square meters (12.32 acres) and includes 30 residential buildings integrated into 16 structures, each consisting of a ground floor and three upper floors. The complex comprises 1,119 rooms and 88 suites, in addition to a comprehensive service building that includes a gym, a restaurant, a kitchen, an exam hall, a study hall, an exhibition room, a library, a cafeteria, administrative offices, and a recreational area. During the visit, guests toured the modern facilities, which feature hotel-style accommodations, dining halls, study rooms, and sports and leisure spaces. The inauguration concluded with group photos alongside students in a celebratory atmosphere, reflecting a sense of pride and belonging to this distinguished academic institution.
